Registering, Managing and Transferring Domain Names

In order to focus on creating better brands, Giganizm does not provide domain name services any longer.

As with branding businesses, domain names are an essential part of every website. Here at Giganizm, we handle registering, managing and transferring domains differently, and we’re going to explain how.

First and foremost, we do provide domain name services for all web hosting plans. These premium services are part of our commitment towards hosting and branding your website with Giganizm.

There are limitations with our domain services, such as domain extensions, how the domain contacts are set up and what happens when service is unpaid. We will explain this in two parts, managed and unmanaged.

Managed Domain Names

Managed domains is a paid service and are updated and controlled by Giganizm. When we register or have domain names transferred to us, we additionally manage your zone (DNS) records.

Every managed domain is distributed on a global anycast network.

In the “domain” world, there are many types of extensions. Due to branding recommendations, we only manage a limited amount of extensions. Here is the list of accepted ones:

Domain Extension Yearly Pricing
.COM $25
.NET $25
.ORG $25
.INFO $25
.CO $35
.ME $35

As for domain contacts, they are an important part of domain names in general, as ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, requires every domain have valid contact information available.

When we manage your domains, we will control the administrative and technical contacts. The reason for this is because Giganizm maintains and updates the domain records for you.

The domain name will still be owned by you.

If service is unpaid and there is a domain name attached to the account, Giganizm will attempt to hold onto the domain and disable renewal for it until the domain expires.

When the domain expires and is released into the public pool, Giganizm is not responsible if anyone (that includes domain buy services) buys your domain name.

I hope that explains the managed part very well!

Unmanaged Domain Names

Now, for the unmanaged part, all domain names can be linked directly to our servers. This includes domain names of all extensions and domain names from third-party registrars.

We support reverse proxy services like Fastly and CloudFlare.

When an “unmanaged” domain name is linked to our servers, we do not take control of the domain. For example:

  • Contacts
  • Name server records
  • DNS zone records

So, when we have a server address update (which happens rarely), we will ask you to update your domain records manually.

We recommend that you purchase your domain from Google for simplicity sakes. The control panel is easy to use, and it’s backed by the largest platform of the internet.
